Teen Spends Over S$1,000 on Massage Parlour “Special Services”; Parents File Police Report

Singapore, 27 April 2025— A 16-year-old boy’s parents were left in shock after discovering their son had spent more than S$1,000 at a massage parlour in Boon Keng, including payments for “special” services from a masseuse.

How It Happened

The incident began when the teenager accepted a suspicious friend request on WeChat from a woman claiming to be a masseuse. She allegedly enticed him with offers of “happiness-inducing” services, leading to explicit discussions about sexual acts and pricing.

Despite his age, the boy visited the parlour multiple times, developing what his father described as an “addiction.” He exhausted his S$500 monthly allowance and dipped into his savings and monetary gifts to fund the visits.

Discovery and Aftermath

The parents grew suspicious when their son asked for extra pocket money while showing an empty wallet. Upon checking his phone, they found explicit chats with the masseuse. After confronting him, the boy admitted to his actions, fearing police involvement.

Outraged, the father, Mr. Chen, filed a police report, condemning the establishment for exploiting a minor. He acknowledged his son’s mistakes but emphasized that the parlour should not target impressionable teenagers.

Broader Concerns

The case raises questions about:

  • Online grooming risks (strangers luring minors via social platforms)
  • Financial exploitation of youths (high spending on illicit services)
  • Parental oversight (monitoring digital activity and expenses)

Authorities are investigating, while advocacy groups urge stronger safeguards against underage exploitation in such establishments.
