Man with 3 knives allegedly attacks Boon Lay residents singing at void deck, police tracking his location

A man wielding three knives allegedly attacked a group of residents who were singing at the void deck of Block 188 Boon Lay Drive on Dec 6 around 6:55pm.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident allegedly resulted from a staring incident. A resident told the Chinese media outlet that a group of neighbours were drinking and singing karaoke at the time.

Sitting along the corridor of her first-floor apartment, she noticed a tall man waiting for a car nearby, accompanied by a woman. Some people noticed the man staring at the group but didn’t think much of it as they didn’t know him.

The man then returned 10 minutes later, allegedly holding two knives in his left hand and a chopper in his right, and began cursing at the group. He questioned her four male friends and appeared to grow more agitated.

When the resident tried to get him to calm down, he suddenly swung the knife at her friend, stabbing him in the back. The friend tried to defend himself using a plastic chair but suffered wounds to his arm and back. The resident then called the police.

Another resident present said he grabbed a bamboo pole to fight the man. When the man heard they called the police, he dropped the knives and ran away.

The Singapore Police Force confirmed they received several calls for assistance at around 6:55pm. Officers found an injured 58-year-old man at the void deck, who was conveyed conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

Through investigations, the police have identified a 32-year-old man believed to be involved in the case. “Efforts to trace his whereabouts are ongoing,” said SPF. According to Shin Min, the man had fled towards Block 238 Boon Lay Drive before he disappeared.

Two knives and a chopper were seized at the scene, and police investigations are ongoing. Wah, this is really scary sia – just because of staring he go and attack people with weapons! Hope they catch this guy fast before he hurts anyone else.
