Wah the infamous kelong king Wilson Raj kena big trouble in Hungary sia, after running away from Singapore since 2010.
The Straits Times found out the 60 year old got whacked with 11 years jail in May for human trafficking. Quiet quiet one, never even make Budapest news. He now appealing the sentence, so case still hanging.
Hungary’s prosecutor office confirm the conviction, say the first verdict not final yet. Next round will be at the Debrecen Regional Court of Appeal.
Backstory quite drama. Hungary police arrested him in July 2020, say he helped people cross borders for money. He has been staying there since 2012, even became expert witness for match fixing trials. But turns out he never stop his nonsense.
This fella used to be called the kelong king, fix matches all over the place. Finland jailed him before, but he served only one year then got sent to Hungary to help investigations. Singapore tried to bring him back in 2014, but kena blocked by EU laws.
He originally fled Singapore after being sentenced to five years corrective training for several offences. Used a fake passport to run. Even wrote letters in 2021 saying he scared to lose the case because he might be deported back here.
Under Hungarian law, human trafficking can mean one to twenty years in jail, depending on the severity. This round he kena the heavy one sia.
